Thank you for signing up for Montana Repertory Theatre’s email!
What. has the Rep been up to?
We're Centering Current and Former Students
Over the last five years, we’ve offered over 150 opportunities in our seasons to current and former UM students.
2. WE’RE LEADING WITH OUR VALUES
• We believe the needs of our staff and the artists we hire should be centered in everything we do.
• We believe that cost should never be a barrier to art.
• We believe everyone who works for us should be compensated fairly.
• We believe every member of our community deserves to see themselves and their stories represented on our stages.
• We believe that providing educational opportunities is integral to our work.
• We believe we are part of a larger local and regional ecosystem of artists and artistic companies that can only survive and thrive together.
• We believe in a community-focused theatre – by, for, about, and with the people who live here.
• We believe that the new works we commission should be supported to full production.
• We believe that our systems and biases should be constantly examined and challenged to ensure the good of everyone, to correct the wrongs of our past, and actively fight against injustice now and in the future.
WE’RE TESTING THE EDGES OF WHAT THEATRE CAN BE
Yes, we’re still producing traditional shows in traditional spaces, but as we invite members of our community who’ve never visited our spaces before, we’re experimenting with form and content. And we’re taking theatre out into our community instead of always asking our community to come to us. Innovative programs like our telephone plays, geo-location-based app and site-based Plays on Tap series help turn theatre into an event unlike anything you’ve seen before.
WE’RE BUILDING COMMUNITY
The Rep has teamed up with some incredible groups, both on-campus (The School of Media Arts, the Military and Veteran Services Office, the Curry Health Center, the Payne Native American Center, and many others) and off-campus (United Way of Missoula County, the Missoula Interfaith Collaborative, the Poverello Center, Missoula County Public Schools, the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula and many others).
Additionally, with the support of NorthWestern Energy, The Rep has offered "Pick What You Pay" pricing for every show in our season. So no matter what you have in your pocket, you can access the arts in Missoula.
Coming Up...
This next season, we are thrilled to be adding new programming, including a commissioned play by a Missoula-based indigenous artist and our new playwriting residencies in Montana schools.
