Hip Strip Hijinks

Inspired by the vibrant local businesses along Missoula's iconic Hip Strip, Hip Strip Hijinks presents a series of five new 10-minute plays written by nationally renowned playwrights. Patrons will meet up at GILD Brewing and then walk to five nearby establishments, including the lively atmosphere of Betty’s Divine and the eclectic vibes of Ear Candy, to watch plays that are designed to capture the essence of their host businesses and to offer an immersive and theatrical experience after hours.


Written by Josh Bonzie, Lisa Sanaye Dring, Emily Feldman, Paul Kruse, and Sam Myers, Hip Strip Hijinks features a talented cast of local Missoula actors and University of Montana Theater and Dance students. The five plays will be performed in Betty’s Divine, Ear Candy, GILD, Le Petit Outre, and Wild Side (a new shop moving into what is now Compass Barber Shop).

What the Constitution Means To Me

Montana Repertory Theatre proudly presents What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck for two evening performances this May! This thought-provoking, hilarious, and deeply moving play will be performed at the historic Elks Ballroom on May 16th and 17th at 7:30 PM.

What the Constitution Means to Me, starring Kelly Quinnett (Go, Please, Go, and Reentry), is a powerful exploration of our nation's founding document through the lens of four generations of women. At its core is the story of fifteen-year-old Heidi, whose journey to fund her college education by winning Constitutional debate competitions unfolds with humor and hope. The play breathes new life into the Constitution, examining its profound impact on the lives of Americans and its enduring relevance in shaping our nation's future.

Montana Repertory Theatre brings this groundbreaking production to Missoula amidst an election year, aiming to offer a play that both challenges and entertains its audience. The Rep hopes the performance will ignite meaningful discussions and inspire civic engagement.

Toby and Melissa have been friends since they were little kids. Now they're in high school, and something's changed-- they're starting to wonder if maybe they don't actually have that much in common. As they try to figure out who they're becoming, they tell each other a story: in a remote little town nestled in the mountains of a magical faraway land (which looks a lot like Montana), an evil warlock builds a castle on a hill and starts causing trouble. It's up to two kids (who look a lot like Toby and Melissa) to figure out how to stop the warlock. Is there a story big enough and true enough to bridge the space between two friends?

Live theatre meets interactive video game as our audience at Ogren Field helps guide Sam (who has anxiety) and Pig (who is punny) through this year's Educational OutReach play. And the only path to victory is if the audience makes a series of choices that help Sam and Pig learn empathy for each other. This delightfully funny choose-your-own-path play, produced in cooperation with the United Way of Missoula County and Project Tomorrow Montana, speaks to students about the effects of and offers them ways to cope with generalized anxiety.
